Bio & Studio Info

About Me:

Hey, I’m Jon Knox. I grew up in North Carolina, went to design school, and now I work as an artist in Portland, OR. People I’ve worked with include Disney, Paul Smith and Urban Outfitters. I used to draw and sculpt only boys, but now I make girls too. My characters are inspired by both people and animals – some real, some not. My work has been exhibited around the world, including solo gallery shows in Chicago and Seattle. I’ve spent time living in San Francisco and Australia. I cast and paint most of my sculptures by hand, but recently some have been factory reproduced as vinyl toys in larger editions. I don’t write background stories for my characters because I find incomplete stories evoke a relatable blend of nostalgia and obscurity.
